So I am pretty excited to get some comic "inspiration" by wanting to make a gift to someone! This is the first draft and I'm really happy with it! Needs some readability improvement and panel fine-tuning but it's a nice 1-pager!

I think I'm gradually getting back to being a comic maker!

A very fast draft of a 1-page comic. Top left panel shows an insect with BZZZ sound effects thinking "What to do today...?". Top right panel shows the insect from a further away view thinking "Guess I'll go check some flowers" while it hovers on top of a field. Mid left panel shows a flower, mid central panel shows the insect wide-eyed at a close-up and the effects "O...M...G...!" and mid right panel shows from a far away angle the fast movement of the insect towards the flower by a single curly line. Bottom left panel shows the insect on top of the flower thiking "they there baby.. You're so sweet!" and the bottom right panel shows another insect seeing that and thinking "and they say bees are smart.."

Paneling and blue-lining done!!! Tomorrow hopefully it will be finished! But only with some basic inking :( I'm not sure how to scan pages with the uni scanner for the time being xD

A comic page with 7 panels.Two on top, three mid and 2 more at the bottom. Top left and bottom right are big and extend all the way to the end of the page. Inside the panels are some blue line sketches.

Penciling done! Now comes the final part of inking, which has to be done with a few hours... :S

1-page comic penciled. Top left panel shows an bee with BZZZ sound effects thinking "Man, I am bored today... what to do?". Top right panel shows the bee from a further away view thinking "...guess I'll go check some flowers" while it hovers on top of a field with a wooden box in the middle of it. Mid left panel shows a an orchid with elaborate flower patterns, mid central panel is a closeup to the bee's face, wide-eyed and the effects "O...M...G...!". The mid right panel shows from a far away angle the fast movement of the bee towards the flower by a single curly line. The bee says "oh boy! What a woman!" Bottom left panel shows the bee on top of the flower thinking "hey there baby.. You're so sweet!" and the bottom right panel shows another bee (a female) seeing that and thinking "and they say bees are smart.."

Aaaand Toyohito is back!!! Present is ready and inked! :D Ink smudges are because it's the first time I tried out sumi ink and it seems that it takes its time to dry... -_-

Feel free to comment! I just hope you'll get a laugh out of it!

@ntoyohito Very lovely! Sumi ink does indeed take time to dry but it sure gets that nice dark black...

What actually felt SO good was it's texture and feeling on the page!! I think I have found an ink that feels super nice for me! (I just hope it can be used with watercolours too)

Follow the masters' guidelines! For some days I was just filling one A4 page (print quality) with ruler lines with a g-pen to get used to it. It was a bit boring, but I could also process how "weird" it feels to actually get used to an automated move like that consciously. That way it ended up being fun xD
