Jack C.<p>This move has been really painful. I'm so glad to be in a permanent home now, but the amount of stuff we have is so overwhelming. randomwizard<p>Gary Gygax wrote in Dragon Magazone that AD&amp;D was going to fix the inconsistencies of D&amp;D and provide just one set of rules that every campaign everywhere can use as the core rules for a degree of compatibility.</p><p>I find it strange, then, that he wrote up 4 different methods to generate character's ability scores. randomwizard<p>If you like the history of D&amp;D, I highly recommend this 14 part podcast. It all about the rise and fall of TSR from its foundation until Lorraine Williams took over. If you read the Game Wizards by Jon Peterson, this covers the same time period, but instead of "Just the Facts, Mam" style that Peterson is good at, this podcast does a series of interviews, some re-enactments, readings of posts. People have opinions and rumors. A lot of information I never heard of before.</p><p><a href="https://tractionmediaproductions.podbean.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">tractionmediaproductions.podbe</span><span class="invisible">an.com/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/dnd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dnd</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/osr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>osr</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/rpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rpg</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/tsr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tsr</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/gygax" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gygax</span></a></p>

randomwizard<p>Did some more research. My theory that the Temple of Elemental Evil was connected to the Giant Drow series is confirmed by Gygax in an enworld post.</p><p>"When I wrote an adventure I always tried to put in a few disguised hooks for later exploitation, or not, as the creative muse moved me. As you note, the shapes were repeated in the ToEE as I did intend to tie the latter into the series. Lolth was to be connected to the temple, she the key to activation of that which would remove the imprisoning bonds from the Elder Elemental God. Of course that would have been by unintended consequences of her actions when the PCs discovered her." -- Gary Gygax</p><p><a href="https://www.enworld.org/threads/q-a-with-gary-gygax.22566/page-143#post-991020" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">enworld.org/threads/q-a-with-g</span><span class="invisible">ary-gygax.22566/page-143#post-991020</span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/dnd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dnd</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/osr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>osr</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/rpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rpg</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/tsr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tsr</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/toee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>toee</span></a></p>
