You might as well throw your Echo and Alexa-powered devices in the trash like you should have done years ago.

And this factoid:

"Congress hasn't passed a consumer #privacy law since 1988, when the Video Privacy Protection Act banned video store clerks from disclosing which VHS cassettes you brought home."

This now banned dragnet surveillance tactic was used to great effect in Seattle for the most petty of reasons.... there was a protest at the Police Union building.

Little to no property damage or other harm was reported (other than the cops beating ppl of course) none the less the fucking FBI built a case entirely on dragnet phone spying tools fit for a Tom Clancy novel.

Isn't it curious that as the @eff and many sources reported last year that a JUST released ruling makes the cops NUMBER ONE approach to solving high profile crimes super duper illegal?

And we really think the cops didn't just take the lazy approach and use the proven tools they may still have access to do an illegal investigation?

Literally the hardest part in all of this for the cops is making up a good story about how "people of interests" get on the radar.

"Since Amazon announced plans for a generative AI version of Alexa, we were concerned about user privacy. With Alexa+ rolling out to Amazon Echo devices in the coming weeks, we’re getting a clearer view at the privacy concessions people will have to make to maximize usage of the AI voice assistant and avoid bricking functionality of already-purchased devices.

In an email sent to customers today, Amazon said that Echo users will no longer be able to set their devices to process Alexa requests locally and, therefore, avoid sending voice recordings to Amazon’s cloud. Amazon apparently sent the email to users with “Do Not Send Voice Recordings” enabled on their Echo. Starting on March 28, recordings of everything spoken to the Alexa living in Echo speakers and smart displays will automatically be sent to Amazon and processed in the cloud."

We're talking about the company controlled by a guy who sent money to Trump, changed the Washington Post into Republican propaganda.

You sure you want him to record what you say in private?

Headline: DOGE Privacy Act Requests

Me: Like many of you, I feel frustrated that the Democrats haven't done more to push back against the current administration. But when they give us an opportunity to act, we should take it. My letter goes in the mail tomorrow. Will you mail a letter too?

🚨 The UK Crime and Policing Bill will create a vast facial recognition database of over 55 million driving licences and ban face coverings at protest 👁️

This would be the biggest biometric database ever created in the UK for policing.

With other rights groups, we're telling politicians to stop the expansion of police surveillance powers 🚫

by Ahmed Ibsais in @jacobinfeed@mastodon.social

“Since 2014, Amazon has been pouring billions into Israel, contributing to illegal settlement programs and the relentless surveillance of Palestinians. Israel’s dystopian end goal: to compile biometric profiles and security ratings for every resident of the West Bank.”
